Microsoft has officially retired the MS-900: Microsoft 365 Fundamentals exam as of March 31st 2026, marking a shift in how foundational knowledge for Microsoft 365 is positioned moving forward.
If you’ve been following my training content, you might be wondering what this means for my MS-900 course, and more importantly, what it means for you.
Let’s break it down.
What’s Changing with My MS-900 Course
Although the MS-900 exam is now retired, the need for foundational Microsoft 365 knowledge hasn’t gone anywhere. In fact, it’s more important than ever.
Because of that, my MS-900 course is not going away, it’s evolving.
Instead of being tied to an exam, the course will now transition into a:
Microsoft 365 Foundations Course
Here’s what that means:
- It will remain beginner-friendly
- It will focus more on real-world understanding
- It will be less about memorizing exam objectives
- It will be more hands-on and concept-driven
- It will continue to be updated regularly as Microsoft 365 evolves
This shift allows me to make the course more practical and valuable especially for those who want to actually use Microsoft 365 in real environments, not just pass a test.
Why This Is Actually Good News
When a course is tied strictly to an exam, it can sometimes limit how deeply we explore real-world scenarios.
By removing that constraint, this new foundation course will:
- Go deeper into how Microsoft 365 works in practice
- Include more real world based examples
- Focus on skills you can apply immediately on the job
What About Certification? Meet AB-900
If your goal is still certification, don’t worry, there is a path forward.
The certification that replaces MS-900 is:
AB-900
This is now the new entry-level certification for those beginning their journey.
If you want to:
- Validate your knowledge with a certification
- Follow a structured exam path
- Continue building your Microsoft credentials
Then AB-900 is the next step.
My AB-900 Course Is Available Now
For those of you who want to continue on the certification track, I’ve already created a dedicated course for AB-900.
This course is designed to:
- Align with the new certification objectives
- Keep the same clear, beginner-friendly teaching style
- Help you confidently prepare for the exam
Final Thoughts
While the retirement of MS-900 marks the end of an exam, it’s really the beginning of something better.
- The new Microsoft 365 Foundations course will give you practical, real-world skills
- The AB-900 certification provides a clear path forward for validation
No matter where you are in your journey—just getting started or continuing toward certification—you’re fully covered.
And as always, I’ll keep updating both paths to make sure you’re learning what actually matters.
