Does Microsoft provide a Server Administrator type of certification anymore?
As much as it pains me to say it, the days of the Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) are gone. As both a consultant and an instructor, I held every single MCSE from Windows NT 4.0 in the 1990s all the way to the end when Microsoft stopped supporting it. That certification helped put food on my family’s table for 20 years. On premise servers are out and cloud is in.. or is it? Actually you might (or might not) be surprised at just how many companies still have on premise servers and need server admins to run things. Not to mention that even when you go to the cloud, the virtual machines often run windows server and you still need to know what you’re doing with the virtual servers to run them properly. I want to go through what certification you should get if you still want to have the advanced knowledge of a server admin, not to mention Active Directory Domain Services.
